Аннотация

Numerical calculations of a one-dimensional porous foam burner subject to random variables are reported. The heat transfer coefficient was assumed to be a random variable and the stochastic process was represented using the polynomial chaos expansion. Two types of approximations are discussed to model the non-linear Arrhenius reaction term in the one-dimensional scalar transport equations. The results show the potential of the polynomial chaos expansions for heat engineering applications. The used methodology allowed to quantify the uncertainty due to the random heat transfer coefficient and to identify the locations of higher rms temperatures.
