Аннотация

Analysis of condensation implosion tests results (Almenas et al. 2006) leads to insight that pressured stratified single-component two-phase flow may be less stable than two-component flow. A special test facility to verify this presumption was constructed at Lithuanian Energy Institute. Main purpose of this investigation is to determine the condensation influence level on a stability of two-phase flow interface. The general questions are as follows:
1) What are inter-phase velocity differences during flow regime transitions?
2) What are intensities of waviness and what is the difference of this intensity in cases of single- and two-component two-phase flow?
This paper presents the experimental test facility, the preliminary test program and methodology of the experiments. The first tests show that the test facility provides the visual observation and recording of the two-phase stratified flow and that the inter-phase velocity required for flow regime transition could be achieved. Preliminary results on the dependency of the variable flow rate of air and water on the intensity of waviness are corroborated with the data of other authors regarding the transition from stratified to wavy flow regime. Preliminary results of air velocity profiles above water surface showed that maximum plane is moved toward the interface.
