Аннотация

As a type of effective and passive heat transfer element, the structure design and flow characteristics of vortex generators (VGs) have gained much attention. In this study, based on the heat transfer enhancement characteristics of a VG, the characteristics of particulate fouling on the surface of a rectangular channel with rectangular-wing VGs were determined experimentally. First, the fouling characteristics of rectangular-wing VGs with and without a hole were determined by comparative experiments. The effects of hole diameter and position on particulate fouling characteristics were further evaluated. Then, the effects of different operating conditions (inlet velocity, water bath temperature, and working concentration) on the fouling characteristics of rectangular-wing VG with a hole were tested. The results show that under the same conditions, the VGs with a hole have advantages over the VGs without a hole in fouling inhibition. With the increase in hole diameter, the fouling resistance decreased. The VGs with a hole located in the outside position have a smaller fouling resistance than in the center of generator. The fouling resistance decreased with the increase in inlet velocity, and increased with the increase in water-bath temperature and magnesium oxide concentration.
