NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF ULTRASONIC WAVE ON HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT OF HEAT TRANSFER TUBE

The effect of ultrasonic wave on heat transfer enhancement of heat transfer tube was numerically studied, by considering of different types of tubes. In this paper, under the action of ultrasound field, the heat transfer effect of the HTTs(heat transfer tubes) with or without the ultrasonic wave was simulated by Fluent software for the different types of heat transfer tubes and the twisted elliptical tubes with different torque. Additionally, the changes of the surface heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number of the heat transfer tubes prior and after the application of the ultrasonic wave were compared. Consequently, the effect of ultrasonic wave on the enhanced heat transfer of the heat transfer tubes was evaluated by the comprehensive evaluation coefficient and the efficiency evaluation coefficient. In this simulation, the position of ultrasonic wave was set as the pressure boundary and the fluid pressure was adjusted by the UDF according to the frequency and the intensity of the ultrasonic wave, to simulate the effect of the ultrasonic field on the fluid. The results indicated that the heat transfer coefficient of the convective heat transfer and the Nusselt number increased by the ultrasonic wave application. The heat transfer efficiency of the heat transfer tube corresponded to an increment function of Reynolds number and the increasing tendency was gradually reduced. The comprehensive evaluation coefficient and the efficiency evaluation coefficient of heat exchanger applying ultrasonic wave were greater than 1, which indicates that the application of ultrasonic wave has significant effect on heat transfer enhancement and the reduction of the resistance of the fluid.
