Numerical solutions for heat transfer in the thermal entrance region of rectangular ducts with different aspect ratios are presented for constant wall temperature and constant heat flux. The results show that the Nusselt number for each aspect ratio decreases from a maximum value at the entry plane to a limiting value when both velocity and temperature profiles are fully developed. The results are compared with the exact solutions for circular ducts and parallel plates and with experimental data.
