摘要

A new modeling approach is presented for calculating flow and temperature fields in radio-frequency (RF) plasma torches. The special feature of this problem is that although the boundary conditions are usual for continuity, momentum and energy equations, they are not accurately known for the coupled electromagnetic (EM) field equations at the beginning if a common computational domain is employed. This kind of heat transfer probiems with the special boundary conditions is also encountered in many practical applications involving alternative EM fields and electrically conductive fluids. In this study, the boundary values of EM fields are determined in the iteration process to obtain the convergent solution. For an axisymmetrical RF plasma torch, the present simpler approach predicted the same results as those obtained by using the previous approach based on the magnetic vector potential.
