摘要

This paper introduced the results of the experimental study on the performance of loop heat pipe (LHP) with flat-rectangular evaporator when working under overcharged conditions. This loop heat pipe was charged with water and operated under horizontal orientation; therefore, a wick sintered from stainless-steel powder was utilized to create capillary forced which motivates the circulation of working fluid inside the loop. The results demonstrated that the amount of working fluid affects strongly on the thermal performance of the LHP such as startup process, stable characteristics, and thermal resistance. The LHP started up at the higher temperature and performed more oscillating behavior when more working fluid was charged to it. In addition, based upon the change of temperatures at different positions of the LHP, an assumption about the phase distribution inside LHP was introduced to explain the oscillation behavior of the LHP.
