HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER ANALYSIS AND DYNAMIC MODELING OF DESICCANT-COUPLED THERMOELECTRIC DEHUMIDIFICATION
摘要
Desiccant-coupled thermoelectric (DTE) dehumidification, a novel system which symbiotically combines desiccant and thermoelectric cooling technology, has been proposed and investigated. The DTE dehumidification has great potential for small space air conditioning since it is compact, flexible and refrigerant-free. This article presents modeling and experimental results on the DTE system. The typical structure of the dehumidification system is studied, and then coupled heat and mass transfer involved in the system is analyzed. A compact thermal model, which based on simplified grounded resistor-capacitor (RC) network, has been proposed and developed. The equivalent electrical circuit takes all relevant thermal resistances and capacitances of the dehumidification system into account. Then the numerical calculation model, derived from the RC network, is adopted to dynamically simulate the real-time performance of dehumidification. In order to validate the model, a prototype is built and numerous tests were carried out. Comparisons between experimental and simulation results have shown that the numerical model is able to predict transient dehumidification process with relative error of 6%. The model is useful for prediction in early stage of design as well as structural optimization.
