FILM CONDENSATION ON A HORIZONTAL TUBE-EFFECT OF VAPOUR VELOCITY
Abstract
Earlier theoretical studies have been examined
and extensive new calculations have been made
for vapour downflow over a single horizontal tube.
Comparisons have been made of the present and earlier
results with experimental data, including new
measurements for steam an d R-113. Significant discrepancies are found at higher vapour velocities.
A need for further accurate data is identified.
The uniform surface heat flux condition has been
found to be unsatisfactory as a basis for theoretical
solution when vapour boundary-layer separation
occurs.
