Abstract

Two-phase flow pressure drop of HFE-7100 was measured across a vertical mini-channel heat sink and analyzed using eight different separated flow model correlations. With advantage of thermal and chemical stability, zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP 320), HFE-7100 is utilized in many industrial applications. The mini-channels were 4 mm wide, 0.5 mm deep and 90 mm long. Experiments were performed under following conditions: Mass velocity of G = 294 − 1037 kg/m2s, heat flux of q''= 19.2 − 40.7 kW/m2, and Pin = 0.98 − 1.04 bar. While the analyzing process, pressure drop characteristics of each correlation were compared with HFE-7100 and evaluated. As a result, correlations proposed by Lee & Lee and Kim & Mudawar predicted the pressure drop of HFE-7100 with the accuracy of 23.14% and 22.70% respectively. Pressure drop behavior of HFE-7100, however, seems to need more accurate correlation since all eight correlation under-predict the pressure drop in low quality region.
