Abstract

A two dimensional model is built and CLSVOF (the coupling level set and VOF) is applied to simulate the flow and heat transfer when double droplets successively impinge on heated surface. With the droplets evaporation in the transitory heating process being taken into consideration, the evolution of the droplets, the flow field and the temperature field in the liquid fluid are analyzed. In addition, the effects of double droplets colliding with each other on the droplet deformation and evaporation are illustrated. The reason for the appearance of the internal whirlpool in the collision and static spreading process is discussed as well. It is indicated that the maximum evaporation rate occurs at the three-phase junction where the liquid disturbance is the most dramatic, the temperature rise the most rapid, and the evaporation starts and gains its highest speed.
