HEAT TRANSFER ANALYSIS DURING JET IMPINGEMENT ON METAL PLATES
Abstract
This work presents the experimental investigations to estimate heat flux and wetting front velocity in the metal cooling process by a full jet nozzle. Experiments for three different metal plates made of copper, nickel and nicrofer have been done with an initial surface temperature from 500 to 850 °C. During the experiments, the quenching surface can be divided into three regimes: a central wetting region without apparent boiling, an outer annular region where rigorous boiling occurs and a dry region where no water is in contact with the surface. The dependency of the influential parameters on heat flux and wetting front velocity is systematically studied.
