Abstract

An experimental investigation on the mass transfer characteristic of stable steam jet condensation in a rectangular mix chamber was conducted. Flow field of steam jet condensation was filmed by a high-speed camera when steam mass flux, water mass flux and water temperature were within 200-600kg/m2s, 6000-18000kg/m2s, and 20-50°C, respectively. Based on a thermal equilibrium phase change model, interfacial area for heat and mass transfer was obtained, mass transfer coefficient was calculated, and its change with test conditions was also investigated. The results indicated that, interfacial area for heat and mass transfer in the two-phase region was much larger than the phase interface area evaluated before, mass transfer coefficient was increasing with steam and water mass flux, while decreasing with water temperature. Results in present work would be significant to have a fundamental understanding of the steam jet condensation, and would be useful for a better design and safe operation on the TFSI.
