PREDICTION AND MEASUREMENT OF VELOCITY AND TEMPERATURE PROFILES IN TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYERS
Abstrakt
Skin friction, Stanton numbers, velocity and temperature profiles were measured in accelerating, decelerating and uniform velocity turbulent boundary layer flows. Predictions were made by the numerical solution of the equations of motion and energy, with a mixing length type of approximation for eddy diffusivity of momentum. Good comparisons were obtained in all cases using a turbulent Prandtl number of 0.9. Experimental results indicate that the shape of the temperature profiles is insensitive to the pressure gradient and to the choice of turbulent Prandtl number.
