Abstrakt

The buoyancy convection in a fluid with internal heat sources in a closed rectangular cavity was investigated experimentally and numerically at Ra'-numbers up to 3.7×1013. The experiments included the determination of the temperature field and the heat flux of the turbulent boundary layer at the vertical wall by the aid of the holographic interferometry, while the measurements of the velocity field were performed with a lascr-Doppler-anemometer. In the numerical calculations the finite difference method was used to solve the differential equations, which were extended by a modified two-equation-model of Jones and Launder to calculate the turbulent exchange coefficients. The investigations were limited to the two-dimensional consideration of the convection.
