A NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF ELEVATED GRAVITY EFFECTS UPON TURBULENT NATURAL CONVECTION FLOWS AND BURNING
Abstrakt
Turbulent, pool-like ethane diffusion flame has been numerically studied with variations of the gravity from
1go to 12go. The effect of the gravitational force upon such flame, concerning flame shape, temperature, velocity and air entrainment into flame is significant. The problem is mathematically modeled by a two-dimensional conservation differential equations of mass, momentum, mixture fraction, turbulent kinetic energy, and dissipation. These equations are solved numerically by employing the SIMPLEC algorithm
and turbulence k- ε -g model in conjuction with a flame model. Our computations based on a finite volume method include the effects of inertia, viscosity, diffusion, gravity, and chemical reactions with energy release.
