FALLING FILM EVAPORATION OF REFRIGERANTS
Abstrakt
Experiments were carried out to study evaporation of refrigerants flowing as falling films on vertical tubes. Tests were carried out with both plain surface and enhanced surface evaporator tubes with film Reynolds numbers varying from 2500 to 7000. Evaporative heat transfer coefficients were found to be comparable to those obtained in flooded pool evaporators, with the enhanced surface tube requiring significantly lower wall superheats than the plain tube.
