INTERFACIAL AREA TRANSPORT SYSTEM FOR BUBBLY FLOW IN VERTICAL ROD BUNDLES
Abstrakt
To develop one-group interfacial area transport equation for bubbly flow in vertical rod bundles, the sink and source terms of interfacial area transport model have been derived based on the interactive mechanism of bubbles and turbulent eddies. To verify the proposed model, an experiment of vertical adiabatic air-water flow was conducted under an atmosphere pressure condition. The experiment facility is composed of 5×5 rod arranged on a square pitch in a square shell with 9.5 mm outside diameter and 12.6 mm pitch, which simulated fuel bundle of nuclear reactor or heat transfer tube bundle of heat exchangers. The new model was evaluated against the obtained experimental data in 17 flow conditions. The results show that new model can predicted well the interfacial area concentration with the error of 21.89%.
