FILM CONDENSATION OF BINARY REGRIGERANT VAPOURS ON A HORIZONTAL TUBE
Abstract
Heat transfer coefficients are measured for
the condensation of quiescent binary refrigerant
vapours of R12-R114 and R114-R11 mixtures on a
horizontal tube over a wide range of mass fraction
of each component. The experimental results agree
well with the theoretical prediction derived by
the authors on the basis-of the two-phase boundary
layer theory. Observation of the condensate film
of R114-R11 mixtures reveals the appearance of
ringwise film, and the turbulence of the rings
increases the heat transfer coefficients. In
addition, the influence of air in pure and binary
vapours on the heat transfer coefficients is also
tested from a practical point of view.
