THE MECHANISMS CONTROLLING THE STATIC PRESSURE IN A FLASHING LIQUID
Abstract
The contributions of surface effects to the compound physical mechanisms which produce the internal static pressure rise in flashing liquids have been analytically and experimentally investigated. The existence of a reaction-type of surface instability in addition to Rayleigh and Taylor types is shown. The experiments, on superheated water, were conducted in a symmetrical U-tube flashing chamber and showed good agreement with the analytical values.
