THE APPLICATION OF PERTURBATION METHODS TO BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW OF RADIATING GASES
Abstract
The band absorptance model is utilized to characterize the absorption and emission characteristics of a gas in laminar flow over a flat plate. The formulation demonstrates that consideration of limiting values of a conduction-radiation parameter lead to singular and regular perturbation analyses. The singular perturbation analysis indicates that the gray and box model results overpredict the radiative transport. The regular perturbation analysis indicates general agreement with the box model, but demonstrates that at intermediate pressures a reversal in the conduction heat transfer may occur.
