VOID WAVES, OSCILLATIOHS AHD FLOW REGIMES IN HORIZONTAL FLOW BOILING
Sinopsis
Different aspects of low pressure flow boiling in a horizontal tube are studied experimentally. The evolution and propagation of void waves downstream of the heated test section are described when the system is suddenly exposed to heat flux ramps of various magnitudes. Flow instabilities during boiling are also discussed. Two modes of instabilities are observed and they appear to be the pressure-wave and acoustic-wave type instabilities. Also included in the discussion are the power and flow boundaries for the occurrence of different flow regimes at the exit of the heated test section.
