Sinopsis

Local heat transfer coefficients during forced convection air flow over an inclined and yawed rectangular plate placed in a low turbulence wind tunnel have been experimentally determined. Flow patterns adjacent to the plate were made visible by a tracer paint technique. The experiments were carried out for a constant surface temperature and covered anqles of attack from 0 to 45°, angles of yaw from 0 to 3 0° and Reynolds numbers of about 105 and 3.5 × 105. For the case of zero yaw at zero incidence, a low heat transfer zone at the central portion near the leading edge followed by a high heat transfer zone indicates the formation and reattachment of a separation bubble. At an angle of attack of 15°, the separation bubble reattaches very close to the leading edge resulting in high heat transfer coefficients there. Relaminarization effects are noted away from the leading edge at higher angles of attack. For the yawed plate, a diagonal flow is responsible for low heat transfer zones at the farthest points.
