Sinopsis

This paper described the theoretical research on the combined conductive, convective and radiative heat transfer in high temperature cylindrical packed beds. The non-Darcian effects were considered for the hydrodynamics of fluid flow and heat transfer. The dependent scattering theory was taken into account for the radiative transfer. The discrete ordinate method is used to solve the integratial-differential equations of radiation intensity. It is found from the numerical prediction that the effect of radiation on conduction-convection is determined by the sign of the net radiation absorbed by the particles. The radiative properties of the wall and the bed medium, as well as the direction of heat flux, have obvious influences on heat transfer in packed beds at high temperature.
