THE EFFECT OF INTERNAL LEAKAGE ON STEADY-STATE AND TRANSIENT BEHAVIOUR OF SHELL-AND-TUBE HEAT EXCHANGERS
Sinopsis
A model is presented for the shell-side flow of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The shell-side flow is regarded as a two-dimensional network of segregated flow streams. Furthermore, a new correlation for the pressure drop coefficient of flow through annular orifices is introduced. It is demonstrated that interned leakage and time-varying inlet concentrations strongly affect the transient behaviour of shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
