Sinopsis

In this work, the influence of wall heat flux oscillation on the bubble formation of subcooled flow boiling with R-134a in a horizontal annular duct is visualized. Furthermore, the effects of amplitudes, periods, and the mean levels of the imposed heat flow rate are examined. The results illustrate that the bubble dynamics such as active nucleation site density, bubble frequency, and departure diameter highly affects by the imposed heat fluctuation. In particular, it is observed that these characteristics periodically experience an oscillation with the same frequency as heat flow rate fluctuation. The observations further disclose that the above-mentioned characteristics become larger under higher heat flux oscillation with a larger amplitude and a longer period.
