Sinopsis

Pool boiling heat transfer consists of the latent heat transfer by evaporation of superheated liquid around bubble and microlayer and the forced and natural convection heat transfer. A new method for the direct measurement of the latent heat transfer in pool boiling on a plate heated surface was developed. In this method, the vapor was captured using the transparent cup placed over the heated wall, and the latent heat transfer is calculated from the descending velocity of the liquid-vapor interface in the cup. Water, ethanol and HFE-7100 were used as boiling liquids. In case of water and ethanol, the latent heat transfer was approximately 100% of overall wall heat transfer. On the other hand, in case of HFE-7100, the latent heat transfer was approximately 50% of the overall wall heat transfer. Finally, we considered to about the appertaining factor to the contribution of latent heat transfer on overall wall heat transfer by the dimensionless analysis.
