Sinopsis

Surface roughness in flat microchannel with 0.5mm hydraulic diameter and 1% relative roughness is generated and numerically studied. A simple Fourier series method is used to generate the rough surface with exponential auto-correlation function. Geometric models without roughness are triangulated to build roughness more conveniently. The influence of triangulate size and correlation length are studied. Results show that flow and heat transfer characters are insensitive to triangulate size. Smaller correlation length could obtain more accurate results compared to experiment data. Also, the results show that 1% relative roughness in flat channel could increase the pressure drop and have tiny influence on maximum temperature of heat sink.
