FORCED, MIXED AWD NATURAL CONVECTION FROM LONG HORIZONTAL WIRES, EXPERIMENTS AT VARIOUS PRANDTL NUMBERS
This paper considers the spectrum of processes from forced, through mixed, to natural convection and presents data of high accuracy and reliability over the whole range, for fluids having Prandtl numbers of 0.70, 6.3, and 63. This data is compared with existing theory results and correlations for forced and for natural convection and estimates of the limits of these regimes are given. Heat transfer results are also given for the entire intermediate range. The experimental apparatus and technique used are thought to be unique and how promise for other studies of transport.
