Résumé

Difficulties in yielding characteristics (applicable to steel hardening) from quenching tests in evaporating liquids are pointed out. A decesive characteristic, the rewetting rate, new in the field of hardening, is introduced. For measuring the rewetting rate, a new kind of measuring method (on the basis of conductivity measuring) is used. Furthermore, the applicability of the characteristics yielded to steel hardening is manifested.
