Résumé

The object of this paper is to procure dropwise condensation (DWC) by preparing new alloys which possess low surface energy in the metallic surface layer. A practical method for maintaining DWC was found to be feasible for industrial application.
The ion-plating technology was developed to prepare surface alloys on a copper tube. The different elements chosen are Cr,Fe,Al,K,Bi,Sb,Sn,Se and In. The experimental results of steam condensation on the external surface of the vertical copper tubes were obtained.
The surface characteristics of alloy layer were analysed for Cu-Cr and Cu-Fe surfaces by using XFS, AES and AES-PRO of PHI-550 Multiple Functions Electron Spectroscopy. Perfect DWC on Cu-Cr surface proved to have a life-time over 3000 hours at least.
The mechanism for DWC formed on the new suefaces was discussed.
