Résumé

A numerical method based on Galerkin's finite element method is presented for forced convection heat transfer over a cylinder embedded in a porous medium. To describe the constitutive behaviour of the medium, two equations based on Brinkman and Forschheimer models are used. Numerical results are presented for Reynolds number varying from 1 to 100, the Darcy number varying from 0.000001 to 1, and the Forschheimer number varying from 1 to 50. For the class of problems studied herein, the results are independent of Darcy number if it is lower than 0.0001. The dependence on Forschheimer number is also quite weak.
