HEAT TRANSFER IN PACKED BEDS OF SPHERES WITH Dt/Dp ≤ 4
Résumé
Radial temperature profiles in fixed beds of spheres with dt/dp ≤ 4 can be well-fitted by pseudo-continuum models. Temperature measurements should be made at 45° angular intervals or less, to obtain profiles free of artifacts and reliable parameter estimates. An ergodic theorem exists for fixed bed heat transfer - temperatures measured in time (repacks) are equivalent to temperatures measured in space (around the angular coordinate) and give the same effective parameters. A general correlation for λ r and αw could not be established for dt/dp ≤ 4, as the parameter values depend on the individual packing structures.
