MICRO-SCALE HEAT TRANSFER AUGMENTATION BY APPLYING ELECTRIC FIELD
Résumé
The augmentation of a direct heat removal from small-scale heating elements by an electro-hydrodynamically (EHD) induced flow was experimentally investigated. The application of an electric field increased the maximum heat transfer coefficient of FC-72(CFC) for a 25mm2 heating element by 1.8 times relative to heat transfer coefficient for no electric field, and increased heat transfer coefficient for a 0.25mm2 element by 1.2 times. The heat transfer coefficient itself for a 0.25mm2 heating element was about 15 times compared with that for a 25mm2 due to the fin effect of the substrate. For an R113-ethanol mixture, the heat transfer coefficient increased by about 10 times due to the current induced flow.
