Résumé

A mesh finned tube heat exchanger was developed for the purpose of further improvement in the air-side heat transfer of the existing air-cooled heat exchangers. In the present study mesh finned tube heat exchanger, copper wire mesh fins having a rhombic open area was used as the fin. Heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of the mesh finned tube heat exchangers were investigated experimentally. The experiments encompassed eight types of geometrical conditions in the present heat exchangers. To evaluate the heat exchanger performance due to the use of the alternative refrigerant, the in-tube evaporation and condensation experiments were performed with a non-azeotropic mixture of HFC-32/HFC-134a with a content 30wt.% HFC-32.
The air-side heat transfer performances of the present heat exchangers were found to be affected by the fin and tube arrays. The comparisons of the heat exchanger performance between for the present heat exchanger and for existing louver finned tube heat exchanger revealed that the volume of the present heat exchanger is 50% smaller than the existing heat exchanger due to use of HFC-32/HFC-134a.
