FLOW BIFURCATION ASPECTS AND THE PRANDTL NUMBER EFFECT ON LAMINAR HEAT TRANSFER IN A LONG DUCT ROTATING IN THE ORTHOGONAL MODE
Résumé
Numerical calculations have been performed to clarify the effects of the secondary flow structure and the Praudtl number on fully developed laminar heat transfer in a square duct rotating about an axis perpendicular to the duct center line. Neglecting the buoyancy effects, computations of steady-state flow and heat transfer cover a range of the Reynolds numbers up to 1000 at the rotation number ranging from 0.05 to 2. The Prandtl number is varied from 0.72 to 10. Self-oscillating features of the How are simulated on the base of simplified formulation, and the effects of unsteadiness on local and averaged heat transfer are discussed. Comparisons with existing experimental results for heat transfer in air and water flows are also presented.
