要約

A differential phenomenological theory for turbulent free convection along a heated vertical plate is described. The total viscosity is taken to be governed by a rate equation which takes into account turbulent convection, diffusion, generation and decay, while the turbulent thermal diffusivity is based on a constant turbulent Prandtl number, Calculations based on experimental data for air show that the turbulent boundary layer consists of a viscous sublayer with nonlinear velocity distribution, an inner layer dominated by turbulent generation and decay and sensitive to the Grashof number, and an outer layer governed by turbulent convection and diffusion; and that Corrsin's viscous superlayer also exists in the present case.
