要約

The flow distribution and heat transfer characteristics of a four-cusp channel has been studied in support of a detailed experimental investigation( a ) of a possible blockage problem following a loss of coolant accident in a pressurised water reactor. A finite difference procedure has been used to predict the velocity and temperature fields for fully developed conditions in the channel. The objectives have been to investigate the influences of secondary flows and wall damping which are particularly important in the narrow corner regions of such non-circular channels. Comparisons are made between the predicted distributions of velocity and temperature and a limited amount of experimental data. Part of this experimental data has been produced by the first author and the rest is drawn from the literature.
