SOLUTE AND THERMAL REDISTRIBUTION DURING FREEZING OF SALT SOLUTIONS
要約
The thermal and solute redistribution processes occurring during one-dimensional solidification of NaCl-H20 solutions are studied both analytically and experimentally. Approximate analytical solutions for the temperature and concentration distributions as well as the rate of phase change were obtained using the heat-balance-integral and finite difference methods. Sodium chloride solutions with concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 4.0 molar were used in the experimental studies. The solutions were frozen in a vertical test cell, and a Mach-Zehnder interferometer was used to monitor the liquid phase solute concentration distribution developed ahead of the advancing solid-liquid interface.
