Experimental Study of Mixed Convection in Horizontal Annuli for Low Reynolds Numbers

An experimental study has been conducted to determine thermal conditions in laminar, water flow between co-axial cylinders with heat flux from the inner surface. Temperature measurements reveal strong enhancement of the heat transfer coefficient due to a buoyancy driven secondary flow. A mix ed convection correlation is developed for 200≤Re≤2200 and 4.4×106≤Ra*≤1.6×l09. Emphasis is placed on determining the angular dependence of the Nusselt number.
