ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF PACKED BED LIQUID DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFIERS
A simple design procedure based on the Effectiveness - NTU method is proposed for packed bed liquid desiccant dehumidifiers. The present model expresses the saturated air enthalpy as a quadratic function of temperature and includes the effect of the heat of dilution liberated at the interface on the gas stream. The analysis does not require the Lewis relation to be satisfied. The design algorithm is validated with experimental data obtained with Calcium Chloride solution in a packed bed of ceramic Berl saddles and with literature data using Lithium Bromide solution.
