CONVECTIVE AND RADIATIVE HEAT TRANSFER TO WATER VAPOR IN UNIFORMLY HEATED TUBES
Resumo
Total heat transfer by radiation and turbulent convection to water vapor was measured along 915 mm long by 12.7 mm I.D. uniformly heated tubes. Parameter ranges were: pressure (1.7, 3.4, 5.1 atm), inlet temperature (150, 370, 595°C), bulk inlet Reynolds number (1900-35,000), wall temperature (200-1100°C), and wall-to-bulk temperature ratio (1.1-2.11). Superposition of convective and radiative heat transfer in fully turbulent flow is shown to be valid in the thin gas limit. A closed form expression for the radiative transfer accounting for real gas properties is in substantial agreement with experiment. Data of intermediate optical thickness is correlated empirically.
