NONSIMILAR SOLUTIONS FOR LAMINAR FILM CONDENSATION OF LIQUID METALS
Resumo
An analytical study of the effects of vapor drag and electromagnetic fields on laminar film condensation of saturated liquid metals on a vertical surface
is presented. The set of parabolic equations governing conservation of momentum and energy in the liquid film were solved by means of finite difference methods. A previous analytical result of the authors is extended to include electromagnetic pumping of the conducting fluid and is shown to be adequate for predicting the effects of both vapor drag and electromagnetic film control.
Heat transfer results are reported for vapor velocities in the range 0-100 ft/s, overall temperature differences from 1-20° R, and various temperature levels and electric and magnetic field parameters for six liquid metals.
