EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF NOISE GENERATION IN A NUCLEATE BOILING SYSTEM
Resumo
The pressure disturbances associated with the growth of an isolated bubble in the subcooled pool boiling of water were experimentally studied at atmospheric and sub-atmospheric pressures. High speed motion pictures of the bubble growth were recorded with the output from a hydrophone superimposed upon the motion picture film. A calculated pressure disturbance was acquired using bubble growth data obtained from the motion pictures and the momentum equation of the liquid and was compared with the results obtained experimentally. The results indicate that the primary pressure disturbance is produced by the initial growth of the bubble. No appreciable pressure disturbance was noted during the collapse of the bubbles.
