Resumo

Critical heat fluxes (CHF) were measured for these parameters:
mass velocity 0.5 to 5.0 × 106 1b/hr-ft2
exit conditions subcooled water to 71% steam by weight
heater diameter average 3.0 and 3.8 in.
average coolant gap 0.064 and 0.104 in.
uniformly heated length 74.1 in.
At constant exit conditions the CHF increased with increasing gap. The highest CHF values occurred in annuli with stripping rings on the unheated wall, the lowest in an eccentric one.
Existing correlations predicted 113 experimental CHF values to r.m.s. deviations from 10.7 to 32.6 percent. Modifications of them reduced these deviations to 4.2 to 6.7 percent.
