Resumo

The rewetting process is modeled by first−principle conservation equations. The flow is assumed to be laminar and the two−phase mixture is treated as a homogeneous medium. Without any empirical correlation, a complete boiling curve at any axial location is predicted. It is believed that this is a significant step toward the analytical study of the rewetting process as well as the boiling heat transfer. Model predictions are generally in reasonable agreement with experimental data published in previous literature. Underpredictions in the heat transfer coefficient and the rewetting velocity are noted and are thought to be caused by the laminar flow assumption.
