Resumo

The printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) are likely to be the most outstanding candidates for the advanced small modular reactors, power generation system with advanced operating parameters and some other innovative applications due to their superior compactness and excellent thermalhydraulic and structural performances. The effect of zigzag angle on the thermal-hydraulic performance of PCHE was conducted numerically. The zigzag angles include 0, 15, 30 and 45 degrees. Flow field and its influence on pressure drop and heat transfer were analyzed. The results show that the horseshoe-shaped velocity field forms under the action of secondary flow. The streamline indicates that the secondary flow brings the high speed bulk fluid to the wall surface and as a result the friction of the fluid with the solid surface is enhanced as well as the transverse mixing. With the increasing of zigzag angle, the ƒ factor rises up faster and faster, but the j factor rises up fast firstly and then slower and slower. PCHE with zigzag angle 15 degree has the best thermalhydraulic performances based on the j/ƒ1/3 optimization criterion among all the studied cases. This research can be applied in the design optimization of PCHE.
