Resumo

In a dense solid-dispersed two-phase media, heat transfer by conduction and convection inside the individual particles and the fluid as well as through the interface between the two phases is important due to a high solid volume fraction. The main focus in this paper is the distinctive phenomenon caused by the highly-conductivity particles in a dense particle-dispersed natural convection between two parallel plates including the finite-sized effect of the particles. The ratio of the thermal conductivity of solid to fluid ks / kf is fixed to 102 and the bulksolid volume fraction is 42.8 %. The numerical result about the conductive and convective components of the heat fluxes shows the local convection strengthens the opposite-direction conduction by a down-flow while restrains the local conduction by an up-flow. On the other hand, with high-conductivity solid (i.e., ks / kf = 102), the local conduction conflicted the local convection caused by the down-flow and the flow structure is varied by the unbalance between the conduction and the convection. The above results suggest the strong coupled effects of convection and conduction on the heat transfer in the solid-liquid two-phase media densely laden with finite-sized particles.
