Аннотация

Turbulent heat transfer in the entrance region of an annular gap with both rotating and non-rotating inner cylinder has been numerically investigated. The outer cylinder is uniformly heated while the inner cylinder is thermally insulated.
The numerical procedure is based on the solution of the finite-difference form of the governing conservation equations. Two additional transport equations for the kinetic energy of turbulence and its dissipation rate have been used to model the turbulent stress in the above conservation equations.
Numerical computations were carried out for an upward air flow in an annulus of 0.1778 m outer diameter and 0.1016 m inner diameter. Comparison of the present numerical results with the available experimental data showed good agreement over the entire range of the parameters considered.
