HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT IN A CIRCULAR CHANNEL USING LENGTHWISE CONTINUOUS TANGENTIAL INJECTION
Аннотация
The screw-shaped swirl cooling technique using a lengthwise continuous tangential injection was investigated. The effects of such parameters as the coolant properties, geometry (channel diameter and length, and jet slot height) and coolant flow rate upon heat transfer augmentation were evaluated. The channel diameter to jet slot height was proven to be the most important geometric parameter. The local heat transfer coefficients for different channel diameters to jet slot heights were experimentally measured at several coolant flow rates. The overall average of dimensionless heat transfer coefficients (Nusselt numbers) were correlated by a power function of Reynolds number (Nus = 0.139Res0.63). The mass flux distribution along the slot width was measured and its relation to heat transfer augmentation is discussed. The pressure loss coefficient across the tangential slot was independent of the slot Reynolds number for a given geometry.
